In the grim darkness of the far future, there is only war. In this war-torn hellscape, Lieutenant Titus, a battle-scarred Space Marine with a storied past, rises to lead the charge against the relentless Tyranid menace. It’s a stark contrast to Helldivers 2, where everything is politicized, but Warhammer stems from religious roots. So, alright. If you haven’t played the first Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine, you might be confused about what’s going on, especially if you’re new to the franchise. So, who is Titus? How Old is Titus in Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine 2? And what’s his story?
Who Is Titus – Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine 2
Hailing from the arid planet of Taurus within Ultramar, Titus speaks to the unyielding commitment and bravery of the Space Marines. An individual of extraordinary abilities, he rose meteorically through the graces of the Ultramarines Chapter to the position of Captain of the Second Company. As a commander, Titus, although competent and battle-hardened, was often tainted with an impulsive attitude and, at times, an attempt to overlook the inflexible Codex Astartes in favor of more flexible concepts that would prove to be his eventual downfall.
What Happened to Titus in Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine 2
In the events on Graia, Titus showed a very rare form of resistance to warp powers. Unfortunately, this unusual ability, though very vital in defeating the Chaos Sorcerer Narroth, raised suspicions of heresy and corruption. His disobedience to the Codex and the concerns his junior, Leandros, brought against him led to being taken under custody and interrogated by the Inquisition. Condemned to more than a century of imprisonment, his solitude was broken only by torture and merciless interrogation.
Eventually, Titus was transferred to the Deathwatch, where he spent his penance as a Black Shield, nameless warrior, robbed of even his identity, in search of repentance. The catastrophic Fourth Tyrannic War would bring Titus the chance for redemption. The Ultramarines answered the call for aid and found the gravely wounded Titus, bringing him into their fold once more. His injuries were such that he was transformed into a Primaris Marine; he now wields the rank of Lieutenant and is driven by an all-consuming urge to restore his honor and prove his loyalty beyond a shadow of doubt.
Who is Titus in Warhammer Space Marine 2
Titus is a highly regarded Space Marine hailing from the Ultramarines Chapter. He is a seasoned warrior with a somewhat high standing for bravery and was in a position to achieve the rank of Captain within the Second Company.
In Space Marine 2, he will have to bear a dual burden: one, the assault of Tyranid swarms that is threatening the Reidus system; two, residual suspicion amongst his fellow Space Marines. This defense of Reidus becomes his proving ground, a time to prove that he is committed to the Imperium and the Emperor. Leading Titus into battle, players experience visceral combat and grand battles that are the hallmark of the Warhammer 40,000 universe. His journey is quite an exciting exploration of his character-inner turmoil, difficulty, and sacrifice that are made toward redemption and fulfillment of duty.
How old is Titus?
This is a bit difficult to say for sure, as the flow of time is very fluid within the Warhammer 40,000 universe. Still, based on his service record and the amount of fights he has seen, Titus is estimated to be several centuries old.
Why was Titus assigned to the Deathwatch?
The induction of Titus into the Deathwatch was riddled with much controversy. On the Forge World of Graia, he had resisted the powers of the warp in an unconventional way. This made many believe him to be a heretic and corrupt, despite his successful defense against the Chaos Sorcerer Narroth. One of his squad-members, by the name of Leandros, reported his suspicions to the Inquisition. Thus, Titus was imprisoned and interrogated extensively for more than a hundred years. When finally the Inquisitor died, Titus was left in limbo until he was turned over to the Deathwatch for further investigation.
Titus is not a Primaris, so what is he?
First and foremost, Titus was a Firstborn Space Marine, the original genetic pattern. However, he suffered grievous wounds in the Fourth Tyrannic War such that he was rebuilt into a Primaris Marine: thus a stronger, more resilient, long-lived breed. Gadriel first noticed it in the first mission of Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine 2 where the now-commanding Lieutenant Titus had overtaken command over his team.
