Stalker 2 Map Size, Locations, and Regions – Overview
Stalker 2’s map is 60 sq kilometers or 40 sq miles and is hand-crafted instead of opting for procedural generation. The game is set to feature 20 regions, of which 18 are speculated to make it to the final release, which include:
Cordon
Zalissia
Great Swaps and Zaton
Garbage
Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant (CNPP)
Agroprom
100 Rads Bar
Industrial Area
Hasharivka
Pripyat
The Center
Generators
Army Warehouses
Duga Radar
Red Forest
Jupiter Underground
Stalker 2 Map Size
Many of you already know that Stalker 2’s map size is around 60 square kilometers, around 40 square miles for those in the United States. Just to give you a perspective, Fallout 4’s map is around 10 square kilometers, and GTA V’s map is 48 square kilometers–including bodies of water.
To make things all the more interesting, GSC Game World stated that Stalker 2’s 60 sq km map has been hand-crafted. That’s incredible considering there’s no procedural generation involved–which has unfortunately become the norm.
In addition, Stalker 2’s map is a mashup of 3 maps from the original Stalker Trilogy, i.e., Stalker: Shadow of Chornobyl, Clear Sky, and Call of Pripyat.
Stalker 2 Map Regions and Locations
There’s not much information about Stalker 2’s regions and locations. But that hasn’t stopped fans from piecing together clues from trailers. Then, there are leakers revealing regions. In addition, the devs stated Stalker 2’s map will feature 20 regions with “Big and Small Locations and Hubs”
But, we’ll still have to take everything with a grain of salt. Then, there’s poor Misha, who’s gone nuts from Psy-emissions. At least, he left behind a hand-drawn map of the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone.
Cordon
Cordon and Rookie Village are marked on the map. The words “Greedy Toad” are a clear reference to Sidorovich who will be featured in his very own “Sidorovich Romance Quest Line” (Originally, Sidorovich’s name was Toad in SoC).
Zalissia
Zalissia lies northwest of Cordon and was featured in the Stalker 2: Bolts and Bullets Trailer and the Stalker 2 Demo.
Great Swamps and Zaton
The Great Swamps are back, but they’ve been seemingly shifted to the southeast. And it seems that the Zaton region is a part of the Great Swamps, though I could be wrong.
Garbage
Garbage from SoC and Clear Sky is back, but it takes a huge chunk of the map and extends to the CNPP.
Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant
It wouldn’t be Heart of Chornobyl without the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant, which is marked as CNPP above The Garbage region
Agroprom
Agroprom is confirmed for Stalker 2’s map, but it’s missing in Misha’s drawing.
100 Rads Bar
The 100 Rads Bar is marked on the map, with the inscription “fraudsters”. This might be a reference to the Freedom Faction.
Industrial Area
This is a wild guess, but from what we’ve seen so far from the trailers, the Industrial Area is returning.
Hasharivka
Hasharivka is a real-life location from the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone, but it’s marked with a question mark, which raises doubt about its exact location.
Pripyat
Northwest of the Power Plant, we see Pripyat, the ghost town. It’s pretty obvious considering the Ferris Wheel landmark marked on the map.
The Center
The Center is located North of the CNPP Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant.
Generators
The Generators might be making a comeback as a separate region or location. Incorporated into the CNPP in the final build of SoC and Clear Sky, The Generators was supposed to be a separate region.
Army Warehouses
The Army Warehouses are also returning to Stalker 2’s map.
Duga Radar
A Grid is marked on the map, which is a clear nod to the Duga Radar located in the West.
Dark Valley
Dark Valley is confirmed to be in Stalker 2, as seen from gameplay trailers.
Rostok
Rostok is another location confirmed to be coming to Stalker 2, as seen in gameplay trailers.
Jupiter Underground
Jupiter Factory is missing from the map, but there is mention of a “Jupiter Underground” east of Hasharivka.
Red Forest
South East of Jupiter Underground, we see the Red Forest.
