Manor Lords Update and Patch — the first biggest one is finally here. The game started out in Early Access, and it’s still going strong after releasing on April 26. This patch brings some QOL improvements that we didn’t expect, but most of us did ask for them, and Slavic Magic delivered. Tons of bug fixes have been implemented, such as the “generic storage problem”, and the high ale consumption issue. In addition, you can now trade between other regions easily, so that your settlements don’t starve to death. In addition, a new Royal Tax or King’s Tax has been added that collects money from the Treasury once a year, which goes to the King, and it’s calculated per resident per settlement.

Manor Lords New Update: Lord Hildebot’s AI Claims Slowed Down
This was a widely reported issue by many Manor Lords players. As the players would start building up their settlements and start claiming different regions, they’d find that they’d already been claimed by Lord Hildebot. So, the devs have decided to slow down Lord Hildebot’s claim rate somewhat.
Trade Posts Don’t Clog Up In Manor Lords Anymore
Towards the end-game, Trade Posts would get clogged up with the famous None people over at spawn posts, and they wouldn’t do any work at all. After repeated reports, the devs finally fixed this issue.
Manor Lord’s Archers Received A Damage Buff
The Archers over at the Retinue did absolutely nothing in terms of damage, and it was frustrating as hell for me. But thankfully, they fixed this with an Archer damage rework, which is something to look forward to.
“Generic Storage Full” Saw pits Bug Has Been Fixed
The Sawpits or Storage Pits have finally been fixed, allowing you to store more food and items. Otherwise, you’d be met with a banner stating “Generic Storage Full”. You wouldn’t be able to create enough food and resources and store it for the winter. Thankfully, Hooded Horse listened to us on this one.
In the winter, crops used to completely disappear into thin air but this time around, they just stay dormant in the ground.
The bug where people and livestock were staying homeless even though there were adequate living quarters was also an issue, and that bug has also been addressed. In addition, there was a weird amount of high Ale consumption in the game, which was also patched out.
You Can Now Trade Between Your Regions in Manor Lords
The best quality-of-life Manor Lords Update in the newest patch allows you to trade between regions. This was not possible in the previous patch as you had to rely on free Merchants or the Barter System.
Just Set up Trade Posts in the region where food and resources are needed and a secondary Trade Post on your main settlement which is rich in resources. A new checkbox next to all the Trade Posts allows you to act out “Foreign Trades” or trades between your regions and settlements. Now head over to the Settlement where the new Trading Post has been set up, and you’ll see resources being exported there via horses or Traders.
Mourning Period In Manor Lords
Every time someone dies in Manor Lords, there’s a 30-day Mourning Period, equivalent to 1 real-time hour. This blocks growth till the mourning period has ended.
NPCs Carry Corpses Now
If someone died in the game in the aftermath of a raid on a settlement, you couldn’t see people carrying corpses. But this time you can, which is – something I guess? QOL update indeed.
Manor Lords Retinue Upgrade Overhaul
This is the best part of the game now. As obvious, you can hire mercenaries or train them in Manor Lords. But this time, an upgrade feature has been added that brings in some sweet armor variants that look pretty cool if you ask me.
Annual Royal Tax in Manor Lords or King’s Tax?
To kick up the realism level in Manor Lords, the game dev decided to bring back an old feature. The Annual Royal Tax Feature has been implemented to punish bad workplace optimization. As a result, players will have to pay a Tax depending upon the number of settlements and residents in a settlement. If you decide not to pay up, much like in real life, the King will…
Well, get very, very angry. For now, the King is patient and will let you accrue debt if you decide not to pay your taxes. But things will get wild in the future. For now, there are no consequences, but with an upcoming update, the player will start losing the King’s favor, which means dire consequences. Things will certainly escalate if you don’t pay the Royal Tax. In the end, the King’s Army will show up at the doorstep of your settlement.
Manor Lords Update and Patch: Conclusion
All-in-all, this was a really nice pre-release update, and it goes to show how dedicated Slavic Magic is to Manor Lords, since they’ve been working on this game for nearly 7 years before being picked up by publisher Hooded Horse. They’ve listened to our criticism and addressed tons of bugs and issues that players were facing in terms of balancing. But then again, Manor Lords isn’t supposed to be a balanced game by design.
