Factory Strider in Helldivers 2? Explained

Factory Strider in Helldivers 2—Explained

Factory Strider in Helldivers 2—the newest Automaton unit threatening democracy is here. After being pushed out of the galaxy, the Automatons decided to go full force with a new threat. As if Devastators and Hulks weren’t enough for us (including me), we had to get a taste of something far more formidable. Imagine a walking AT&T robot with autocannons, turrets, and machine guns strapped on all corners, even on its underside! And if things couldn’t get any worse, it spawns Devastators every few seconds!

What Are Factory Striders in Helldivers 2?

Factory Striders

Factory Striders are the newest Automaton threat on the block, and these machines bring a serious punch to the explosives department. Several fellow Helldivers have been rag-dolled by these behemoth’s explosive projectiles, but that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

Capable of spawning hordes of Devastators within seconds and its sheer spongy nature, this Automaton unit poses the biggest threat we’ve seen by far within Helldivers 2. Factory Striders are notorious for boasting two minigun turrets right under their chest plate. Moreover, the Factory Strider possesses a cannon turret that sits right on top of its head.

Factory Striders were pretty rare to come across right until Arrowhead added dedicated missions to eliminate Factory Striders a few days ago. This is pretty normal for Arrowhead, as the devs are known to add new mission types under wraps. The mission type wasn’t mentioned in the recent patch notes, either.

Even under lower difficulties such as difficulty 4, Factory Striders in Helldivers 2 pose a serious threat. That’s not counting the armada of Devastators, Hulks, Striders, and many more Factory Striders. Even at a difficulty of 4, charging in isn’t the best-case scenario, considering the turrets and mini-cannon will make quick work of you if the Devastators fail to do so.

Delving deeper into the ruggedness of the Factory Strider in Helldivers 2, there are a few key takeaways that could help fellow Helldivers take out these AT&T-esque walkers. The factory strider is adorned from head to toe in AP5 heavy armor. But there are a few weak spots here and there that players can exploit.

The visor or facial area of the Factory Strider in Helldivers 2 is reinforced with AP4 medium armor. The same goes for the knee joints and the shoulder joints. A key interest point is the vents that pop up on top of the Factory Strider if a brave Helldiver manages to get on top of one. These vents consist of AP3 light armor, that can easily be penetrated with all weapon types.

Two Gatling guns are mounted on the chin area of the Factory Strider, consisting of AP3 armor. Moving to the back, you’d be surprised to find a scary Annihilator Cannon capable of rag-dolling you. Taking it out with normal guns isn’t a smart move considering it’s reinforced with AP5 heavy armor.

The belly of the Factory Strider is its sweet spot, but careful timing and positioning are needed to make the most of its soft AP3 underbelly. Otherwise, you’ll be bombarded with Devastators popping out of the belly of the Factory Strider.
