COD Black Ops 6 Zombies The Tomb Reveal Trailer Explained
Let’s talk about the initial details first. The Tomb is the fourth map for Call of Duty Black Ops 6 Zombies. Upon launch, we received Terminus and Liberty Falls, followed by DLC Map 1, Citadelles Des Morts. Now, we’re getting the 2nd DLC Map, The Tomb on January 28, 2025, along with the release of Call of Duty Black Ops 6 Season 2.
COD BO6 Zombies The Tomb: Story and Lore
As explained by earlier leaks, the Tomb takes us to an Excavation Site in Avalon, not far from Citadelles Des Morts. Now, the new COD BO6 Zombies crew; Weaver, Gray, Carver, and Maya are making their way to retrieve the Sentinel Artifact which is the main Easter Egg quest for BO6 Zombies DLC 2.
So, what’s special about the Tomb and the lore behind it? Treyarch affirmed in their blog post that The Tomb’s excavation site has ties to a civilization dating as far back as 2500 BC. A new side character will also be introduced by the name of Sir Archibald Fotherinton-Smythe. From what we know, Sir Archibald spoiled the excavation site in the early 1900s, and ever since, he’s disappeared. The postcards shown in the 115-Day Blog Post are Black and White photographs taken by Sir Archibald.
The Tomb: Map, Areas, and Layout
Treyarch has confirmed that The Tomb will play quite similarly to Liberty Falls, with a similar layout. Expect small areas and Points of Interest with an emphasis on replayability and tons of new Easter Eggs.
With new screenshots of the Tomb already out, it’s been revealed that the BO6 Zombies Squad will start out at the Dig Site, an archaeological area featuring luminous runes. The path through the Dig Site will lead to the Neolithic Catacombs and the Ossuary, featuring scribblings, piles of bones, altars and skulls.
Delving deeper into the Tomb, players will make their way to find themselves in the Subterranean Temple, the Deep Excavation Site, Shrine of the Hierophants, and after completing a few more Easter Eggs and steps, you’ll make your way to the Doorway to Nowhere and finally, the Dark Aether Nexus. Treyarch has been dry on the details, but it’s evident that the Dark Aether Nexus is the final area in The Tomb. Maybe Samantha Maxis will finally be released from the Dark Aether?
The Mimic From Modern Warfare Zombies Returns As The Shock Mimic
We’ll also be surprised with the return of a new variant of the Mimic from Modern Warfare Zombies. This time, we’re getting the Shock Mimic which can electrocute you.
New Wonder Weapon in The Tomb: Staff of Ice
But that’s where the new Wonder Weapon will come in handy. The New Staff of Ice, similar to the one seen in Zombies Chronicles Origins is returning. Players can freeze and slow down zombies, produce an AOE effect, and heal teammates.
The New Perk-A-Cola in Black Ops 6 Zombies DLC 2 Is Death Perception
We were speculating if the Double Tap, Mule Kick, or Death Perception would make a return in Black Ops 6 Zombies in Season 2, and guess what? We finally got Death Perception! Death Perception allows players to see Zombies through walls. Researching Death Perception and unlocking Major and Minor Augments will allow you to research the Death Perception Perk-a-Cola range. But Death Perception isn’t coming back to just The Tomb DLC Map. Players can purchase it from the Wunder-Fizz Vending Machine on all other BO6 Zombies map, once Season 2 kicks off.
BO6 Zombies: QOL Updates and Returning SMG (PPSh-41)
Additionally, we’ll get to see the PPSh-41 in the game, which has now been confirmed for COD BO6 Season 2.
In addition to the Tomb DLC Map 2 for COD Black Ops 6 Zombies for Season 2, we’ll be getting some well-deserved Quality of Life updates as well. Players will be able to track up to 10 Calling Cards and 10 Camo Challenges in both Multiplayer and Zombies.
Call of Duty Black Ops 6 Zombies players will also get a Co-Op Pause option, meaning the party leader can pause the match. HUD presets will be separate for both Multiplayer and Zombies. If you end up getting kicked or disconnected, you’ll still rejoin your zombies match with the same loadout now.
