So that’s right, Black Myth Wukong just received what is probably the most important update since its launch with Black Myth Wukong Patch 1.0.9.15179. We finally get a way to buy Fine Gold Threads to finish upgrading our gear. Additionally, we have a bunch of buffs to some of the best abilities and weapons and a host of information about future DLCs. This Black Myth: Wukong New Update brings significant improvements, so let’s jump right in! The patch is out right now, and it’s about 2 GB (1.7 GB specifically) in size. It brings a number of very good changes, so let’s prioritize the ones that are most important.
Warning!
Make sure to uninstall your Black Myth Wukong Mods before installing the new update, as it may cause compatibility issues.
Fine Gold Threads and New Game Plus in Black Myth Wukong New Patch
Yin Tiger now sells Fine Gold Threads, but only in a New Game Plus cycle. So, you do need to jump into New Game Plus to take advantage of this feature in the latest Black Myth: Wukong New Patch. You’ll notice that he sells Fine Gold Threads for 3,000 will a pop. It’s not the cheapest, but not the most expensive either. Since it’s a very limited resource even in a full cycle, it helps a ton to finish crafting or fully maxing out all of your armor sets. Many of these armor sets are actually worth it, which we’ve discussed before, so I’m glad they made this change.
Along with this, Yin Tiger also sells Celestial Ribbons and most other crafting materials you’ll need to finish upgrading everything.
Buffs to Weapons and Armor in Black Myth Wukong Patch 1.0.9.15179
Beyond this, several weapons and armors have received buffs in this Black Myth Wukong New Update.
- Spike Shaft Staff: This weapon now increases your maximum mana by 30. You will see this in its basic stats. Instead of just giving you 80 attack, it now also grants 30 maximum mana, which is a significant upgrade at the stage you get this (basically, once you finish Chapter 3 and move to Chapter 4). It’s a pretty solid option at this stage, especially since it gives you a really good bonus—you gain Continuous Focus for a brief moment after successfully seeing through an enemy’s attack. This will help a lot, particularly if you perform a lot of Resolute Counter Flows or other See-Through mechanics, allowing you to cast your abilities more often. We covered this before, but it’s still a solid option.
- Venomous Sting Insect Armor Set: This set has also been buffed in Black Myth Wukong Patch 1.0.9.15179, and it now considerably increases the duration of all medicine effects. In fact, it already did this with its four-set bonus, but now it’s even stronger. I haven’t tested it in-game yet, but it seems that your medicine effects—like extra damage, critical chance, resistances, and others—will last much longer. However, this set was already neglected due to its weaknesses. I still believe it could use additional buffs to make it more desirable. Even with the improvements, I wouldn’t place it above something like the Pilgrim’s Iron Ball or the Wukong Mythical sets, which completely overshadow it. Still, it does make the armor a bit more desirable, especially since your consumables are much stronger during the first playthrough.
Relic Perks and Deflection Mechanics in Black Myth Wukong New Update
We also have an interesting buff to one of the Relic Perks for the Rock Solid Deflection. The patch reduces the narrowing effect of the timing window for the Rock Solid Deflection imposed by the Sound as a Bell for the Fuming Ears Relic. This change comes as part of the Black Myth: Wukong New Patch. Previously, it was already pretty good, but now it’s even better. This means your timing window to perform a perfect deflection with Rock Solid is more forgiving, making it easier to incorporate this into your build. Additionally, with the Sound as a Bell Relic, you recover about half of the mana cost of the spell, so you can spam it more often. This is especially useful in end-game scenarios, like when fighting the other Wukong, where deflection becomes critical in some fights.
They also fixed an issue where the Damage Increase effect provided by the Immobilized Talent was not being properly removed under specific conditions. If you know which conditions caused this, let me know down below in the comments.
Exploit Fixes and Other Improvements in Black Myth Wukong Patch 1.0.9.15179
The developers have addressed a number of exploits that made certain boss fights easier. For instance, they fixed an issue where opening the manual interface caused some enemy skills to fail. Black Long was notably affected by this; you could interrupt his AOE effects by simply opening and closing the menu, which nullified the damage and particle effects.
They also fixed the combat experience for the Hundred Eyed Daoist Master, although the specifics of this change remain unclear. However, many players, including myself, have found this boss incredibly annoying due to its hitboxes. Hopefully, the fix improves the situation where jump-heavy attacks would miss the target, as if invisible walls were surrounding its legs.
Additionally, they addressed an issue where the Destined One could maintain the Ring of Fire effect continuously under certain conditions. Another fix ensures that players who defeated corresponding bosses before the update, but didn’t receive the Tadpole and Bodhisattva’s Left Hand items, will now find these in their inventory.
Other Fixes

- Resolved various crashes and errors occurring under specific conditions.
- Fixed an issue preventing 100% achievement completion from triggering correctly in certain circumstances.
- Added detection and update prompts for operating system and graphics driver versions.
- Resolved an issue where the Destined One could be thrown outside the invisible wall during certain Yaogai Chief and Yaogaibattles.
- Fixed an issue where some enemies could get stuck or could not be defeated under specific conditions.
- Addressed a bug where murals in the Great Pagoda were not displayed correctly.
- Fixed an issue where character models in the Flaming Mountains weren’t being removed properly after cutscenes.
Localization and Future Plans in For DLC Expansion
Localization has been improved with corrections to translation errors and added translations for certain portraits. Errors in subtitles, lyrics, and some English voiceovers have also been corrected in the Black Myth Wukong New Update.
Lastly, big news regarding Black Myth Wukong—the game has now sold over 20 million copies, generating nearly $1 billion in gross revenue. Rumors suggest that a DLC expansion is in development and may release in early 2025. However, while the date seems optimistic, internal game development roadmaps can shift. A more likely release window could be mid-2025.
Let me know what you think—is January 2025 too soon, or do you expect the expansion to drop sooner rather than later? Will we get an Elden Ring Like Expansion DLC?
