Kill the Shock Mimic To Get The Monocle
The First Step is to get Sir Archibald’s Monocle, which is dropped by the Shock Mimic on Round 8. The Monocle is a Key Quest Item which is used to trigger the Purple Lanterns and activate the Roman Numeral Rune Puzzle Easter Egg in the BO6 Zombies The Tomb Map.
- Step 1: Reach the Neolithic Catacombs
- From the Spawn Digsite, head left and open the Red Door (2250 Essence).
- Go northeast past Deadshot Daquiri to the Workshop Bench area with light pouring from the ceiling.
- Look for the Roman Numeral Rune Puzzle.
- Trigger the Roman Numeral Rune Puzzle
- Shoot all lanterns in the Neolithic Catacombs until the lantern in the Workshop Bench area lights up.
- A sound effect will confirm success. Shoot the lit lantern to reveal the Roman Numeral Rune Puzzle on the left wall.
- Solve the Roman Numeral Rune Puzzle
- Shoot runes in ascending order: I, II, III, IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, IX, X.
- If successful, runes turn blue; if wrong, they turn red but can be retried.
- Completing the puzzle spawns a Purple Orb and Armored Zombies.
- Eliminate Zombies, follow the Orb, and interact with the Ice Staff Headpiece when it spawns.
- Step 1: Access The Tombs Area
- From Spawn Digsite, head north, go right past the stairs, and left of the Roman Mausoleum and Headless Statue.
- Open the Red Door (2250 Essence).
- Find the Death Perception vending machine, stairs with a lantern, and a Bull Mural nearby.
- Trigger the Bull Roman Numeral Rune Puzzle
- Shoot the Purple Lanterns until the one below Death Perception and near the Bull Mural lights up.
- Shoot the lit lantern to activate the second Roman Numeral Rune Puzzle.
- Solve the Bull Roman Numeral Rune Puzzle
- Shoot runes in ascending order: I, II, III, IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, IX, X.
- A Purple Orb spawns again. Follow it, kill Armored Zombies, and collect the second Ice Staff piece when the Orb fuses with the puzzle.
- Reach the Dark Aether Nexus
- Open Red Doors past The Tombs Area, continue through the Shrine of Hierophants, and into the Subterranean Temple.
- Interact with the Purple Crystal to open the Doorway to Nowhere, leading to the Dark Aether Nexus.
- Locate the Shrine near the Pack-a-Punch Machine.
How to Get the Staff of Ice
- Interact with the central hole at the Shrine (near the PaP Machine) using:
- Ice Staff Headpiece
- Ice Staff Staff-Piece
- Protect the Shrine from Zombies during the crafting period to complete and obtain the Staff of Ice.

Kill The Shock Mimic To Get The Monocle
Reach round 8 and kill the Shock Mimic to get a key Quest Item, which is Sir Archibald’s Monocle. The Monocle is a key quest item used to see the purple lanterns light up in the Neolithic Catacombs and the Tombs area. This is what you actually need to activate the Roman Numeral Puzzle in the Neolithic Catacombs and the Tombs.

Make your way to the Neolithic Catacombs. From the Spawn Digsite, head left and open the Red Door by spending 2250 Essence. Head North East, past Deadshot Daquiri, into the room with the Workshop Bench and light pouring from the Ceiling. This Roman Numerals Rune Puzzle will appear here.
To trigger the Roman Numeral Rune Puzzle, shoot the lanterns in the Neolithic Catacombs till the Lantern in the Workshop Bench area light up. If done right, you’ll hear a sound effect. Shoot it to reveal the Roman Numeral Rune Puzzle on the left wall.
How To Solve The Roman Numeral Rune Puzzle
To solve the Roman Numeral Rune Puzzle in the Neolithic Catacombs in COD Black Ops 6 Zombies Tomb map, shoot each roman rune numeral in ascending order of I, II, III, IV, V, VI, VII, VII, IX, X.
After shooting all the runes in the correct order, they’ll change color from yellow to blue. Doing it wrong will make the Rune puzzle turn red, but you can still retry. After completing the puzzle successfully, an Orb of Purple light will spawn along with numerous Armored Zombies. Eliminate the Zombies and Follow the Purple Orb till it returns to the Numeral Rune Puzzle Wall in the Neolithic Catacombs. The headpiece of the Staff of Ice will spawn. Interact with it to get it.
How To Get The Staff Piece in The Tombs Area in COD Black Ops 6 Zombies The Tomb
Head back to the Digsite Spawn and move North and head to the right corner, past the flight of stairs, and left of the Roman Mausoleum and the Headless Statue. Open the Red Door for 2250 Essence Points to enter The Tombs Area. Towards the left, you’ll see the new Death Perception vending machine and a set of stairs, with a Lantern above the bottom of the stairs. In front, you’ll find a painting or mural of a Bull. Shoot the Purple Lanterns till the Lantern Below Death Perception and in front of the Bull Mural lights up. Shoot it to trigger the second Roman Numeral Rune Puzzle on the Bull Mural.
How To Solve The Roman Numeral Bull Puzzle In The Tombs
Shoot the Roman Numeral in ascending order again, from I, II, III, IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, IX, X. Another Purple orb will spawn. Follow it, kill armored Zombies until the Purple Orb fuses with the Rune Puzzle and gives you the second Staff piece of the Ice Staff. Afterward, it’s time to head to the Dark Aether Nexus.
Go To The Dark Aether Nexus
To get to the dark Aether Nexus, keep opening red doors past The Tombs Area, travel down the Shrine of Hierophants and open the next red door to reach the Subterranean Temple. Turn right and interact with the Purple Crystal to open the Doorway to Nowhere and travel to the Dark Aether Nexus. To the right of the Pack-a-Punch Machine, you’ll find a Shrine.
How To Get The Staff of Ice in COD Black Ops 6 Zombies The Tomb
Interact with the central hole at Shrine located right of the PaP Machine with all, Ice Staff Headpiece, the Ice Staff Staff-Piece to trigger an event. You have to protect the Shrine from incoming Zombies till the Ice Staff is completed.
