We figured the chapter had closed on Black Myth Wukong, but Game Science gave the title another update, dubbed Black Myth: Wukong Patch 1.0.12.16581 on December 10, 2024. The new update not only fixed bug fixes regarding boss fights and invisible walls, but brings some new Quality of Life Features into the mix.
You can now stack medicines instantly. Black Myth Wukong gets a full world map called the Journey’s Chart along with fast travel. We also get two new challenges called “Return of Rivals” and Gauntlet of Legends, allowing you to get new medicines, armor sets, drink and soaks, equipment, and weapons. So, let’s break down the new Black Myth Wukong update!
Black Myth Wukong Journey’s Chart Map Added in New Update
Black Myth: Wukong Patch 1.0.12.16581 introduces a new map for each chapter called the Journey’s Chart. The Journey’s Chart shows you the locations of all the NPCs you’ve talked to and the Shrines that you’ve unlocked.
In addition, you get fast travel access to Shrines from any point on the map, and the option to mark waypoints. The map for the first chapter is available for free, but you have to buy the maps for every other Chapter from Shrines.
Game Science Adds New Opulence Armor Set For Free In Celebration of Chinese New Year
In Celebration of The Chinese New Year, Game Science added the Opulence Armor Set in the new Black Myth: Wukong Patch 1.0.12.16581. It can easily be obtained by heading over to any Keeper’s Shrine, under the Trailblazer Gift Option.
The set includes the Lion Head of Opulence and the Red Silk Robe of Opulence, Buskins of Opulence, and Arm Guard of Opulence. In addition, the new Opulence Armor Set sets off some sparkly fireworks when using the Ring of Fire.
Talent Menu Shows Skills or Spells Buffing Transformations Or The Destined One
The Talent menu now allows you to check if a skill or spell affects the Destined One or the Transformation as well. For example, Moon Roam only stacks damage for the Destined One. On the flip side, Steadfast increases Defense for the Destined One and his Transformations.
Black Myth Wukong Challenge Modes: Return of Rivals & Gauntlet of Legends
Black Myth: Wukong Patch 1.0.12.16581 introduces two new Challenge modes dubbed Return of Rivals and Gauntlet of Legends. The Challenge modes are unlocked after completing the game once and starting New Game Plus.
To access Challenge Mode in Black Myth Wukong NG+, head over to a shrine and select either Return of Rivals or Gauntlet of Legends.
Return of Rivals
Return of Rivals allows you to fight against bosses you have previously defeated at three different difficulty levels. If you completed the game once without defeating one of the bosses, they won’t appear in Return of Rivals.
The difficulties are Pilgrim, Young Sage & Great Sage. Pilgrim allows you to fight bosses at the same difficulty as you first encountered them, but Young Sage and Great Sage feature bosses that hit harder and feature new move sets!
Gauntlet of Legends
The new Black Myth Wukong Challenge Mode “Gauntlet of Legends” is where things get really sweet. Gauntlet of Legends features 9 Challenges where you’re supposed to fight bosses one after the other, i.e., in succession.
These encounters are pretty difficult because you hop into the next boss fight with the same amount of health, mana, and cooldown period for your spells and skills. On the flip side, you still get two sips from your gourd to replenish health.
Finishing each Gauntlet rewards you with new items and equipment that weren’t previously available in the game.
All New Curios in Black Myth Wukong
New equipment, new Curios have been added in the new Black Myth: Wukong Patch 1.0.12.16581.
Ever Burning Palace Lantern
The Ever Burning Palace Lantern is one of the new Curios in Black Myth Wukong. Equipping it adds burn or scorch damage when you perform Light Attacks on enemies. But they have to stay in your Ring of Fire or be situated in lava terrain. Other Curios that can be unlocked in the Gauntlet are the Stone Tiger Tally & Fragment of The Ocean Settling Pillar.
Stone Tiger Tally
The Stone Tiger Tally grants you an increase in Critical Hit Chance when seeing through enemy attacks, and the Critical Hit Chance can be stacked up to 6 times. This could boost your Critical hit chance from 2 to 12 percent. But you only have a window of five seconds to stack the buff, or it expires.
Fragment of the Ocean Settling Pillar
If you’ve managed to unlock the Wukong Stance, then we’ve got good news for you. The Fragment of the Ocean Settling Pillar Curio buffs the Wukong Stance’s damage by 10 Percent and adds a whopping 2-minute to the active stance duration.
New Medicine In Black Myth Wukong: Glimmering Scale Pellets
After completing one of the Gauntlets, the Glimmering Scale Pellets Medicine is unlocked, which buffs attacks on Loong Staffs by 10-12 Percent. It can also be stacked with other medicines that buff your attack damage, like White Tiger Pellets.
New Soak and Drinks in Black Myth Wukong
The new Black Myth: Wukong Patch 1.0.12.16581 introduces some new Soak and Drinks that have their own pros and cons in battle.
Sour Wine
Using the Sour Wine in Black Myth Wukong restores 24 Percent of your health, but increases the stamina cost of your actions. On the flip side, it buffs damage dealt by Charged and Heavy Attacks. The damage buff is around 4-6 Percent.
Robust Antler
The Robust Antler is a complicated Soak and Drink Item. You need to have zero Mana for its effects to kick in. But the pay-off is pretty great. Using your Gourd with zero mana, and with the Robust Antler equipped, you get an attack damage buff of 8-10 Percent for 15 seconds.
Frost Enduring Chrysanth
The Frost Enduring Chrysanth replenished a moderate amount of Qi for your Stance attacks, useful for Crowd Control. To make the most of your Qi returns, make sure to equip the Sunset of Nine Skies Gourd to stack your Qi returns. This reduces your Qi replenishment from 9-10 Gourd charges down to just 6 uses
New Three-Hill Crown Headgear for the Tri-Point Spear
If you’re a fan of thrust attacks and the Tri-Point spear, then you should definitely unlock the Three-Hill Crown Headgear from the Gauntlet of Legends. It buffs your light attack with new special animations. Using the Tri-Point spear and the Three-Hill Crown, every light attack causes a sword to penetrate the enemy, producing a total of 300 damage per hit.
New Weapon Staffs in Black Myth Wukong
The game also brings three new weapon staffs in Black Myth Wukong which will be discussed in our updated Black Myth Wukong Best Weapons Tier List. For now, here are the names of the three new Staffs.
- Leeching Centipede Staff
- Qing Mallet
- Fanged Cyan Staff
Medicine Stacking For Buffs Is Faster
Before the new Black Myth Wukong update, you had to wait 3–4 seconds for a medicine to be consumed and its effects to kick in before you could use another medicine. Now, you can quickly stack medicines for super buffs without having to wait.
Bug Fixes in Black Myth Wukong
Boss fights were a bit finicky before in Black Myth Wukong. With Black Myth: Wukong Patch 1.0.12.16581, many fixes have been introduced. Players could sometimes not enter Boss Arenas because of an invisible wall.
Erlang Shen could throw you behind an invisible wall in the first phase of his boss fight. Game Science also fixed an exploit where players could fight the Lang Baw Baw Frog in a different arena, where he wouldn’t attack you.
Game Science also fixed the Kang Jin Star boss fight, where Kang Jin would sometimes die for no reason. The Green Cap Martialist’s Fire Ring attack duration has also been nerfed from 25 seconds down to just 15 seconds.
